Medical

Your familiarity with first aid and CPR/AED can become invaluable in a medical emergency.

Procedure

Stop - Quiet your fight-or-flight response.

  • Make a deliberate effort to focus instead on the needs of the injured.
  • Refrain from moving or repositioning those hurt to avoid exacerbating any head, neck, or back injuries they may have suffered.
  • Maintain your composure and tell those in need that you will get help for them.

Assess - Evaluate the scene and those in trouble as best you can.

  • Try to identify the cause of the medical emergency.
  • Ask questions and observe carefully to gain some understanding of the nature and severity of injuries.
  • Consider what environmental changes would reduce the risk of similar harm to yourself and others.

React - Call for help and assist in whatever capacity you can while awaiting its arrival.

  • Dial 911 and convey as much information as you can about the nature of the emergency.
  • If the medical emergency takes place at Prudential, call Security.
  • If conditions warrant CPR/AED and you are a certified provider, follow appropriate protocols.
